Newfoundland and Labrador
Newfoundland and Labrador is a province in Canada located in the country’s easternmost part of the Atlantic area. The province comprises the island of Newfoundland, as well as Labrador with its capital at St.John’s, one of the first settlements of Europeans in North America and largest city in Newfoundland. Newfoundland’s economy is highly entrusted to the natural resources and energy sector. The largest hydroelectric facility is located in Churchill Falls, Labrador.
The province has one of the lowest population densities in the world. There are six national parks and over a dozen provincial wilderness parks. There are many rustic lighthouses and museums across the province for sightseeing which includes Fisherman’s Museum in Twillingate, an Aquarium in Petty Harbour. The distinctive culture of Newfoundland which is intimately linked heavily with the traditional importance of fisheries and mining is also considered an important industry because of its rich mineral deposits. Newfoundland and Labrador offer an excellent and affordable quality of life.
