3 immigration programs managed through Express Entry:
Canadian Experience ClassSkilled workers with Canadian Work Experience.
At Least 1 year experience in the last 3 years prior to application.
Requirements
- Require
at least 1 year of Canadian skilled work experience or equal amount of
part-time work experience in the past 3 years before applying.
- Acquired the work experience while under the temporary resident status.
- Performed
most of the main duties or all the essential duties stated in the lead
statement under the occupational description in the National
Occupational Classification (NOC).
- You should have worked in 1 or more of TEER categories from TEER 0 to TEER 3.
- While volunteer or unpaid internships don’t count, the skilled work should include paid wages or earned commission.
- You
are not eligible if your work gained is without a temporary resident
status or without authorization or in a refugee claimant status.
- The work experience or self employment gained as a full time student does not count towards this program.
- Language ability in English or French and or both which is valid for 2 years from the date of test result is a requirement.
- Even
when there is no eligibility requirement on the basis of education in
Canadian Experience Class, you could improve rank on Express Entry pool
if you have either of the following:
1. Received a certificate or diploma or degree from Canadian secondary institution or post secondary institution.
2. Gained a foreign education with completed education credential and
assessment report for immigration purposes certifying the equality to a
Canadian certificate, diploma or degree and from a designated
organization pre approved.
- Be admissible to Canada under
Canada’s immigration law covering security, criminal or medical reasons.
Your Canadian immigration officer who looks into your visa or
Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) or the at the port of entry can
decide on your inadmissibility.
Federal Skilled Worker Program
Skilled workers with Foreign Work Experience.
Education and other factors’ criteria should meet
Requirements- Skilled work experience under National Occupational Classification (NOC) TEER categories from TEER 0 to TEER 3.
- Carried out all the essential duties and majority of main duties mentioned in the lead statement of the occupational description in the NOC.
- Your primary occupation should be the job to be used for your immigration application under the same NOC and obtained within the last 10 years inside or outside Canada.
- The work needs to be paid as wages or commission and cannot be volunteer work or unpaid internship.
- 1 year of continuous work with a minimum of 30 hours for 1 year or equal amount of part-time work of 15 hours for 2 years per week is a requirement. This doesn’t limit you to one job to meet the requirement.
- Student work experience may count towards the minimum criteria if the work is paid by wages or commissions, without gaps and meets with skilled federal worker experience.
- With a minimum score requirement on approved language tests that is valid and written in the last 2 years.
- Education from Canadian secondary school or post secondary institution or a foreign equivalent certified by educational credential assessment from a designated organization.
- Once you meet the minimum requirements your eligibility will be further scrutinized on the basis of age, level of education, years of experience, availability of a valid job offer, language proficiency in English and French and adaptability that shows your likeliness to settle in Canada.
- With a different ranking system after entering the Express Entry Pool candidates are ranked and then invited to apply for permanent residence.
- Unless either having a valid job offer or currently working legally in Canada a proof of funds to support you and your family to settle in Canada is a must.
- Inadmissibility due to security, criminal or medical reasons while your Canadian Immigration offer either at the port of entry or Visa processing, can be taken into consideration.
Federal Skilled Trades Program
Skilled workers with qualified skilled trade.
With valid job offer or certificate of qualification
Requirements- 2 years of full time skilled trade work experience within the 5 years before you apply counts as a minimum requirement.
- Under National Occupational Classification (NOC) skilled trade category the performed job requirements listed as lead statement should include all essential duties and most of the main duties.
- Candidates are supposed to independently practice the trade occupation during the work experience shown and meet descriptions in the NOC.
- Unpaid internships or volunteer work will not be counted. Only experience acquired on paid work having wages or commission counts.
- It is a must to have a valid job offer of full-time employment for at least 1 year or a certificate of qualification in a skilled trade.
- The certificate of qualification proving the qualification to work on a specified skilled trade should meet all requirements to practice the trade and attained after passing qualifying certification examination.
- The issuing body is to be either the province’s or territories’ trade governing body or federal authority.
- Each province has its own certification process and qualification requirements that should match for assessment.
- Language ability has minimum score requirements and should be taken in the last 2 years period.
- When there are no educational requirements for this program, scores will improve with education in Canada or equivalent education from abroad after completion of credential assessment.
- Proof that proves sufficient funds to accommodate you and your family to settle in Canada is considered as a must unless you legally work in Canada at present or have a valid job offer from a Canadian employer.
- Admissibility is also a determining factor that comes under the discretion of the Canadian immigration officer who looks into your visa or Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) or at the port of entry can decide on the basis of security, criminal or medical reasons.
