While you are waiting for the permanent residency, you could apply for a bridging open work(BOWP). These are the permanent resident programs that make you eligible for the application of Bridge Open Work Permit:
- Permanent Residence using Express Entry
- Provincial Nominee Program(PNP)
- Quebec Skilled Workers
- Home Child-Care Provider Pilot or Home Support Worker Pilot
- Caring for children class or caring for people with high medical needs class
- Agri-food Pilot
The qualifying candidates who are foreign nationals meet program eligibility requirements may be regarded as eligible for an open work permit to validate the transition period from the expiry of their present work permit and the final decision made on their PR application.
General Eligibility
- Foreign nationals must be currently in Canada after they enter as a temporary resident.
- Meet one among the below mentioned criterias at the submission time:
❖ Have a temporary resident status which allows the hold to have an authorization to work with a valid work permit.
❖ Have maintained status and authorization to work provided as a result of application submission to renew their work permit.
❖ Have a provision to be eligible to restore their temporary resident status to work on a work permit.
- Have submitted an APR as principal applicant.
- Have finished one of the following APR stages:
❖ Completeness check for electronic application for permanent residence has passed, submitted under Express Entry.
❖ Completeness check for APR is passed under the QSWC.
❖ Under one of the following classes or pilots, a receival of a positive eligibility assessment for non-Express Entry APR. Categories are: Caring for children, caring for people with high medical needs, AFP, PNP, HCCPP or HSWP once qualifying work experience is completed.
