Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) is a pathway that finds prospective immigrants having skills and experience targeted by Nova Scotia. The following are the NSNP streams that you may qualify for:
Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities - Selected from the candidates in the Express Entry Pool who meet shortage of provincial labor market needs to apply for nomination. A candidate can apply if they receive a letter of interest from Nova Scotia Office of Immigration.
Labour Market Priorities for Physicians - Specifically for physicians who wish to apply for nomination through the federal Express Entry system. Having an approved offer from Nova Scotia Health Authority or the IWK Health Centre who receive a letter of interest from Labour, Skills and Immigration can apply. General practitioners, family physicians or specialist physicians will receive a Letter of Interest.
Physician - This stream assists Nova Scotia’s public health authorities the Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA) and the Izaak Walton Killam Health Centre (IWK) to have an intake of general practitioners, family physicians and specialist physicians to work and settle in Nova Scotia. This will entitle them to recruit and retain physicians with required skills.
Entrepreneur - This stream is meant for experienced business owners or senior business managers who wish to live in Nova Scotia. They have to either start a new business or buy an existing business and must actively participate in the daily management of the business operations. After completion of the above mentioned criteria, the entrepreneur can be nominated for permanent resident status. Application to this stream is only through invitation.
International Graduate Entrepreneur - The recent graduates from Nova Scotia University and Nova Scotia Community College who have already started or bought a Nova Scotia business and running it for at least an year are eligible to apply. The graduate may be nominated to permanent resident status if they wish to settle in Nova Scotia and this stream only operates through invitation.
International Graduates In Demand - The recent international graduates whose skills and education match specific job categories of National Occupational Classification (NOC) such as Paramedical occupations, Pharmacy Technicians, Nurse Aides, Orderlies and patient service associates, Early childhood educators and assistants.
Skilled Worker - With the help of this stream employers become entitled to recruit foreign workers and recently graduated international students whose skills are required for Nova Scotia. Any employer who uses this path should only hire foreign workers if they are unable to fill with permanent residents or Canadian citizens.
Occupations in Demand - This stream is targeted on TEER 3, 4, 5 category occupations of the National Occupational Classification with high labor market demand based on labor market information and eligible occupations.
Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry stream that allows highly skilled applicants who have one year of experience working in Nova Scotia in TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 occupation of National Occupational Classification and wish to live in Nova Scotia permanently. With recent updates only a limited number of applicants are admitted to the country with this program with primary focus on employer’s needs. These changes are intended to address any sort of labor shortage and retention of immigrants and international graduates. This program is now keenly focusing on Nova Scotia Graduates.
